Put 2022 in the Rearview and Focus on You!
The year ahead is packed with potential. Make it happen!
As we prepare to bid 2022 farewell, remember that it's more powerful to focus on potential positives than past negatives! Sure, we get to say so long to what we went through, but let's balance that by getting excited about the options to change and opportunities to grow we can create for ourselves! I've never been the biggest fan of waiting until New Year's to set your resolutions; why wait to start working on making things better? But if that's what motivates you, let's do it! I'm all for appreciating tradition -- I just want us all to realize it takes slow, steady commitment to get us where we want to go. So, Happy New Year! Here's to the Tribe's continued success!
Calm Mind
We all know the saying "If you believe it, you can achieve it!" It's something we see on the walls of gyms and classrooms all the time. And while it can sound simplistic, I think there's a real beauty behind that little bit of wisdom. The essential ingredient to believing in your own truth is to set real intention in your commitment to making it happen, and that means thinking through your plan to make it happen. When I work with clients, it isn't just about setting a goal, it's about following a strategy to realize it. So, let's set our intentions for the year ahead not just on the high-level goals, but on the everyday steps we can take to get us there!
Healthy Body
Speaking of sayings, there's a great one first-time marathon runners are known to use when they begin preparing for what might feel like an impossible race: "Start slow and taper down." That's a very tongue-in-cheek way to take the intimidation out of training and make a huge point: You have nothing to prove! The point of training for a marathon is the training itself, and if you approach it with steady determination, you're going to cross that finish line! Let's apply that mindset to our physical efforts in 2023 -- your race isn't against everyone else. Your race is yours alone, and finishing is winning! So, find workouts you love and motivation that keeps you moving in some form or fashion every day. But also know that you're running your own race, and you're sure to see the results you want if you stick with it!
Strong Spirit
The past few years have done a number on our morale, to be sure. We have gotten worn down by worry and constant concern about what the heck is going to happen next. Feeling overwhelmed like that makes staying in bed or just zoning out in front of the TV or getting stuck on your phone a really attractive idea, but here's the thing: our little escapes aren't going anywhere, and they actually feel even more rewarding after we take care of the things that really feed us, body and soul! So, listen to that internal voice (or my voice!), which is encouraging you to stay accountable to yourself! You know you'll look and feel better as a result, but you'll also be able to take pride in knowing you honored your spirit by doing what's truly best for you! I'll always be your cheerleader; you get to be that player who takes the field and gives their best. That's the spirit!
