Anyone who knows me knows I pride myself in being organized (my husband would say, “too organized!”), handling the hustle and getting everything done. And recently, in the midst of all of life’s demands, I realized I still needed something else: I needed to catch my breath and refocus on what makes me truly happy.
In addition to running our school, teaching classes two or three times a day, working with personal training clients and finding time to workout and practice on my own, I have been blogging weekly and podcasting every other week. That’s keeping plenty of plates spinning, and I realized I needed to find some slack or I was going to lose it!
With that in mind, I’ve decided that among other small steps I’m taking to create some space and sanity, I’m dialing back the frequency of posts to the Jen Z blog. I’ll be still sharing content and thoughts here every few weeks, but for now I need some of that bandwidth to focus on upcoming jiu jitsu events, and the Jen Z retreat (there are only a couple spots left if you are interested!)
Other changes include revamping my Patreon and putting some more free video content out there for everyone to enjoy. I’ll also be sharing more fitness and BJJ content, and you’ll still be able to catch a Jen Z Podcast.
It took me a minute to realize this was a smart step. It made sense for me so I could stay sane and bring the best version of myself to my top priorities. We’re so tempted to want to do everything, and get everything done, but that can’t come at the expense of your sanity! If you think you’re spread too thin, it’s time to ask yourself what small responsibilities or commitments you can take a pass on to lighten the load.
I needed to hear this. Trying so many new things, all of which I love doing, but sometimes, it is too much and I have to rest and relax (even though I feel guilty about it).
Very smart move! Hit the refresh button, avoid burn out.
XOXO, jf
