When I hear summer, one of the things that pops in my head is BBQ season!
I love me some BBQ. There are ways you can still enjoy, while adding in tons of veggies and not overloading on the carbs too much.
As with many of my other meals, I love creating bowls. Nothing changes with my burgers. You can get creative and add in whatever you love, but below I will list what I include to make it exciting and flavorful. I always use high quality, organic lean ground beef or ground turkey, try a mix too. They turn out great!
-dark greens and/or spinach
-tomato
-avocado
-beets
-burgers (or any choice of BBQ protein)
-cheese: I don't really eat cheese much as dairy does not always agree with me. I have found that goat cheese and feta digest better and are "healthier" cheeses overall
-Trader Joes butter pickles (sooooooo yummy and no high fructose corn syrup)
-banana peppers
-dressing: my staple of EVOO and balsamic glaze! Sprinkled with some sea salt & black pepper
-grilled veggies: Add some veggies on the grill. I love when corn is in season, it's sooooo good on the grill. I boil it first and then finish it on the grill. I do add a touch of organic mayo to my corn. You can have fun with all kinds of seasonings to flavor it up!
Hope you enjoy! If there is anything fun you like to add, please comment below 💜.
P.S. Little tip with BBQ, watch the barbecue sauces. Something olive oil or vinegar based is better than a rich creamy sauce. They are loaded with tons of sugar. A little bit on the side is a better way to enjoy versus drenching your protein in sauce.Â
